THE QUICKEST* WAY TO BECOME A NEW LYFT DRIVER in Phoenix

If you are serious about becoming a new Lyft Driver in Phoenix (or Boston, or similar Metropolis) then read and understand this entire blog post before navigating to any other page. Then, come back and use this page, along with the signup button at the bottom to help you with the signup process. 1a. This QUICKSTART guide PRESUMES that you ALREADY OWN an INSURED, NEWER THAN 2006 CAR, AND HAVE a DRIVER’S LICENSE; Be sure to read Lyft’s full ~Arizona Driver Information~ to see the BASIC prerequisites AND vehicle requirements required to BECOME A NEW LYFT DRIVER IN PHOENIX.)* Then come back and digest this QUICKSTART GUIDE.

  1. SUBMIT YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK IMMEDIATELY — DO THIS FIRST -> The background check can take anywhere from 3 days to SEVEN MONTHS.. (Yes you read that correctly…(IT TOOK 7 MONTHS for me to get my recent background check authorized from DoorDash but hopefully it will be quicker because it is Lyft.) (Note, having a clean record does not necessarily get your background check processed any quicker than not having a clean record — IT TAKES AS LONG AS IT TAKES… so DO YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK FIRST. This will get the ball rolling for you while you do all of the other stuff (listed below) that you have to do…hopefully it only takes about 4 or 5 days for you. This way once the background check is processed you will have everything else already done and you will be that much closer to giving your first ride and making money.
  2. Next, DOWNLOAD THE ~LYFT DRIVER~ APP FROM the GOOGLE PLAY or APPLE STORE. The App is actually called “Lyft Driver.” Some people might not know that it is called “Lyft Driver.” It IS DIFFERENT than the “Lyft” Passenger App.
  3. Do all of your paperwork… Take a picture of your insurance coverage. (Usually the top page of your Declarations Page) And upload it to the Lyft Dashboard or at least have your insurance paperwork ready so that you can do this after your background check is processed. Now is also a good time to begin to familiarize yourself with the Lyft Dashboard. Which is different than the Lyft Driver app AND the Lyft Passenger APP. (See more in step 6.)
  4. Go to a PEPBOYS and bring this piece of paper with you and get it signed – You can schedule an appointment at a local PEPBOYS here. (Maybe even pick up the telephone and see if they are busy before you schedule the appointment. The Vehicle Inspection Report should take no more than 20 minutes. It really depends on if the PEPBOYS that you go to is busy or not. It definitely helps to give them a call before you arrive.
  5. After this you should just about be all set and just waiting on your background check. In the mean time. Keep familiarizing yourself with the Lyft Dashboard. This is where every ride you ever give as a Lyft Driver will be tracked and understood (by you) –You will be able to look up how much you make on every ride and where you actually drove, and how much you make week by week. The Lyft Dashboard will become your best friend over time. It is also helpful when you do your taxes at the end of year.
  6. After your background check processes you will upload your insurance, and your registration, and any other documents to the Lyft Dashboard if you haven’t done so already. Once you do this you will soon be approved to drive. You are now ready to give your first ride!
