Before you sign up. Ask yourself these questions…
DO YOU LIKE TO DRIVE?…DO you LOVE TO DRIVE? I mean really, do you really love driving? (I do.)
DO YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF TO BE A cautious, conscious and responsible DRIVER? (Should really be a hard yes.)
DO YOU HAVE A CAR?

If not, ARE YOU at least age 24-25 and comfortable renting from Hertz?
DO YOU HAVE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE? Does catering to passengers appeal to you?
ARE YOU A CLEAN AND PROFESSIONAL PERSON/CAN YOU KEEP YOUR ENVIRONENT CLEAN? CAR CLEANLINESS IS DIRECTLY PROPORTIONAL TO TIP WAGES, (ESPECIALLY WITH LYFT).
DO YOU HAVE A SMARTPHONE? (Recommended Android/iPhone 6 equivalent or better)
If the answer(s) to any of these questions is “No,” then you should seriously reconsider driving for LYFT or ANY rideshare company.
If you answered “Yes,” to these questions then move on down to the next section.
BEFORE YOU APPLY TO BE A DRIVER:
Now that were getting somewhere, the next step would be to download both the Lyft Driver App AND the Regular Lyft App on your Smartphone. Yes, I am telling you to download the Lyft RIDER APP.
Take a short ride using the Lyft App. Actually hail a Lyft. Get in the back. Talk to the driver. See if you like the experience – see if you can see yourself being a driver… If you can visualize yourself being a driver and you have a good experience with your driver during your ride then the next step is to apply to be a driver!
Your going to see a screen not dissimilar to the one below…

Put my promo code: CHRISTOPHE124168 in the box and we will both make EXTRA money in your first month of driving for Lyft! Continue reading mylyftjournal.com to get more tips on beginning as Driver in the Boston Metro.

After You Apply:
After you apply, get familiar with Lyft Dashboard. Dashboard is Lyft’s Driver “User Interface.” Dashboard will ask you for important documents like a photo of your car insurance and a background check. You’re going to want to initiate your background check document right away. This is because it is the longest pending document to clear before you can get on the road. (It usually only takes a day or two but could take up to two weeks!) So take care of this document and then get familiar with the rest of Lyft Dashboard. Once your background check clears you can get on the road and start making easy cash – best part – whenever you want! You’re The Boss!
Try to complete the intended amount of rides in the first month. Right now the Offer is 220 rides in your first 4 weeks. This seems like a lot at first but you can do it! Break it up! If you do 9 rides a day/night that’s only about 4 – 4.5 hours of work a day for full time pay!
If you don’t like the rideshare concept initially don’t give up right away! My advice is to complete your allotted rides for at least the first month week. That way you can have some extra money this month ($2500 or so dollars!) by cashing in on that new driver bonus!
TIPS for more TIPS and For NEW Lyft Drivers:
Now that your signed up, get comfortable getting in your own skin and being a driver.
If someone were to ask me, Chris, how can I make more tips and be a better driver I would say:
1. Commit to cleaning your car once a week – vacuum the inside and get an exterior car wash for the outside. – Self-Explanatory. Just Do it.
2. Good Habit’s promote Good Form: Get Gas everyday BEFORE you turn on your LYFT APP, don’t accept a ride and have to tell your passenger that you need gasoline -> this is a recipe for a poor rating a poor review. Stay away from habits like this.
More things you may already know, Go to the bathroom right before you start driving, fill up your gas tank before you accept a ride, Plan a week, How many rides are you going to give this week? Aim for that. Aim for the weekly ride challenge perhaps and that way you can get the bonus/streak for giving a set amount of rides.
3. Have at least these couple things in your car at all times: Car Sickness Bag, (you’re going to get drunk people..!) Small Water Bottles, Napkins, Etc. These things go a long way in terms of tips!
4. Play Neutral Music: I play classical music every time a pickup a passenger: Everyone can relate to peaceful classical music. WCRB.com is 99.5 for Boston Radio. I turn it on when I start driving and then I don’t have to fiddle with the radio while I am driving, Therefore I can have my full attention and concentration on the road. I’ve gotten over $100 in tips just for having this radio station on in my car and doing nothing else! It’s dumb, it’s stupid, but it’s simple and it works and it makes people feel safe in your car which is essential what you both want.
5. Get Familiar with Destination mode and the “LAST RIDE” button. When your about to sign off for the day or night use destination mode to get home. Get familiar with this preference its not perfect but you can potentially get a ride going in the direction of your home. It’s a really great feature on the APP. “LAST RIDE” is an option to use if you want to sign off after your current passenger’s drop off. Use this feature to boost your rating because you won’t have to reject any rides you don’t want when your going home.
6. Bonus Tip: Be yourself! I don’t think it matters if you strike up a conversation, or your passengers do or you remain quiet just be yourself and be present, and be conscious of the rode. Serve your passenger remember your creating a service for them so be professional and safe and you will be rewarded in tips.
Now get out there and start driving and earning that easy cash.
