Lyft Direct is a way to make/save small percentages on top of your Lyft earnings. It is also a way to get paid directly– and instantly, after each individual ride that you give (hence the name Lyft Direct). One can see why this payout style could prove useful to drivers in today’s economy.
By using Lyft Direct, you will create a debit card account that will save you money on gas, dining, and groceries. The big one here is gasoline. Saving 2-7% on gas will net you around $400-$1800 dollars in savings per year, depending on how much you drive. Be sure to see the Lyft Rewards for Drivers chart–(Cut and pasted onto the bottom of this post.) Since gasoline is going up so high due to inflation or whatever, be sure to set up and use your Lyft Direct card ASAP to maximize your “make-save-earnings.”
Dollars…More Dollars, Use this Card to Save/Make/Earn More Dollars
You can apply for the card here–you will be redirected to the app: Lyft Direct
I do recommend applying the settings so that you get paid after each ride. (Instant Payout) — And, keep a minimum of around $100 on your Lyft Direct account at all times. This ensures that you can fill up your gas tank and grab a bite to eat and save on both things if you are out and about getting rides.
The debit card account that you create will be with Stride bank, and all customer service for this debit card is powered by Payfare. These two things don’t matter a whole lot but I listed them here incase you need to know.
Key takeaways from this post:
If you are a New Lyft Driver, sign up for Lyft Direct ASAP. The sooner you sign up and start using Lyft Direct the better. I wish I had done it from the start and been disciplined with it and used the card to get gas every time –I would have more money now.
Always keep at least $100 bucks in the Lyft Direct Debit account. This ensures a gas tank full of 2-7% savings when you hit the pumps.
You could also find a gas station that provides the 2-7% savings and go to that gas station as much as you can. Designate a good gas station and/or always use the high savings gas stations that are recommended in the app. I will show a screen shot of this later… I actually do think it is better than Gas Buddy.
For me, right now in Phoenix, AZ I use Circle K because it saves me 2%, and right now I am Silver Tier. (Weak Sauce -about to be Gold though, steppin’ up my game). Every little bit helps, remember this. Rideshare is a penny pinching game– but don’t let that knock you –always have and hold the “earning/gaining value mindset.”
Leave a comment if you know a good gas station that you can save 5% or better when using Lyft Direct in the Phoenix, AZ (or Boston, MA) or similar Metro.

I recently re-instated my Lyft Direct card again because I have gone back to being a full time Lyft Driver. The card had become dormant because I hadn’t used it in a while. Above is the updated Savings per Tier Chart on gasoline.
Keep your Lyft Direct account current. You will earn more. I can’t stress this enough.
